Family Medicine & Geriatric Center
At Family Medicine & Geriatric Center, our goal is to provide high quality medical care to patients of 18 years and older, with a specific focus on helping our middle aged adults and geriatric population age in a healthy manner throughout Hidalgo County.
We pride ourselves in taking on a holistic approach with the cooperation and support of various kinds of specialists suited for our patients’ unique needs. At our practice we do our best in trying to prevent, diagnose, and treat geriatric syndromes or diseases that are all part of getting older to encourage a better quality of life.
Dr. David Schnaiderman
Born in Lima, Peru, Dr. Schnaiderman studied medicine and earned his Medical Doctor degree from the Universidad de San Martin de Porres in 2001. Following a couple years in private practice in his home country he ended up choosing to further his studies at the Family Medicine Program at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) in Galveston, Texas. There he earned his Family Medicine degree in 2008, as well as a Geriatric Fellowship at UTMB, where he graduated as a Geriatrician in 2009.
MARIO SEGURA
Meet Mario Segura – our certified, talented, and friendly family nurse practitioner here at the Family Medicine & Geriatric Center. Mr. Segura has over 13 years of experience as an emergency room registered nurse and another three working as a nurse practitioner in geriatrics and various specialties. With a passion for helping others and a keen eye for medicine, Mr. Segura loves every aspect of his position. He feels blessed to work at Family Medical and Geriatric Center. He values the safety of his patients just as he does the safety of his family and friends, so you know you’re in good hands.
Dr. Maria Mercedes Ferreira Caceres
After earning her medical degree in 2016, Dr. Maria Mercedes Ferreira Caceres has gone on to care for patients across an assortment of healthcare systems, from public hospitals to clinical settings. She has a professional interest in chronic disease management, preventitive care, women’s health, geriatrics, and community heatlh. Dr. Ferreira is a caring and committed healthcare provider, offering her wealth of knowledge and international experience to patients from a diverse range of backgrounds. For Dr. Ferreira, medicine is a partnership, and she hopes to help every patient feel supported.
Sandra Tawil
With more than 20 years of experience in family medicine, Sandra Tawil is a dedicated Physician Assistant with the knowledge needed to help meet your healthcare needs. Sandy has a particular passion for science and research, with experience in microbiology and pharmacology. For more than two decades, Sandy has served the McAllen and Edinburg communities, providing expert medical care and unwavering compassion to patients in need. In addition to providing clinical care, Sany also has contributed to the medical field through her work as a teacher in the Phsician Assistant Program at UTRGV.
